GREEN TOMATO PICKLE 
1 bucket green tomatoes, peeled & sliced thin
7 or 8 lg. onions
1/2 c. salt
1 qt. cider vinegar
3 c. sugar
3 tbsp. pickle spice

Soak tomatoes overnight (onions too) and sprinkle with salt. Next morning drain and wash if too salty. Heat vinegar and spice and sugar. Add tomatoes and onions. Cook until tender. Makes 6 pints.

(Mama has made this from memory over the years but she has come up with these amounts and I use it now.)
