VEGETABLE CHOWDER 
8 tbsp. butter
2 c. diced carrots
2 c. chopped celery
6 tbsp. chopped onions
1 c. water
1 1/2 tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. salt
Pinch of pepper
1 can whole kernel corn
1 pkg. frozen peas or 1 can
2 qt. milk
2 tbsp. chopped parsley; optional

Melt butter and add carrots, celery, onions, water, sugar, salt, and pepper; cook until done. Add rest of ingredients. Bring to a boil and serve when peas are done. Sprinkle bowls with a pinch of parsley. Maybe reheated if not used for 1 meal. Is good with a grilled cheese sandwich.
