OLD FASHION DATE CANDY 
2 c. sugar
1 c. chopped dates
1 c. milk
1 1/2 c. nuts
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cube butter

Cook sugar, milk and dates over a low fire. (Test: Until a little of the mixture forms soft ball in a little water.)

Remove from fire and add vanilla, butter and nuts. Stir or beat until mixture begins to get cool and hard. Pour in a wet towel into a long roll. Roll it up and put in refrigerator. When set up and completely cold, slice in 1/4 inch slices.
