HOT DOG AND HAMBURGER RELISH | |
3 lbs. (about 10) med. green tomatoes 4 med. red apples 3 sweet red peppers 4 onions 1 1/2 tbsp. salt 1 1/2 tsp. each pepper & ground cinnamon 3/4 tsp. ground cloves 2 1/2 c. sugar 2 c. white vinegar Wash tomatoes and remove stem ends. Core apples, do not peel. Remove cores and seeds from peppers. Force apples and all vegetables through coarse blade of food chopper. Combine remaining ingredients and bring to a boil in kettle. Add vegetables and simmer, uncovered, for 30 minutes, or until thick, stirring occasionally. Pack into hot, sterilized jars and seal. Makes 4 to 5 pints. |
