REFRIGERATOR PICKLES 
2 tbsp. noniodized salt
1 1/2 tsp. pickling spices
1 tbsp. powdered alum
2 c. cold vinegar
1/2 gal. whole pickling cucumbers
3 c. sugar

You will also need canning jars and lids.

Wash cucumbers and place in canning jars. Combine all other ingredients and pour into jars to cover cucumbers. Seal jars and let stand for 3 weeks. After 3 weeks, unseal jars and drain. Remove cucumber and slice into rounds. Pour 3 cups sugar over the sliced cucumbers. Put into airtight container and refrigerate. They are ready to eat in 24 hours.
