SIMPLE AND SAVORY BARBEQUED
CHICKEN
 
2 1/2-3 1/2 broiler fryer chickens, cut up as for frying
2 tbsp. fat
1 med. sized onion, peeled and chopped
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
1/2 tbsp. mustard
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. vinegar
2 tbsp. brown sugar
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/2 c. water

Brown chicken pieces 15-20 minutes in fat in frying pan - remove chicken to roasting pan - cook onion in pan chicken was browned in - when tender - add remaining ingredients and 1/2 cup hot water. Stir to mix - simmer 10 minutes, stirring well. Pour over chicken in roasting pan. Bake t 350 degrees for 1 hour - basting frequently with sauce in pan. If sauce cooks down too - add a little water or tomato sauce. Sauce is good over mashed potatoes. Serves 4-5.
