CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES 
2 1/4 c. flour
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter flavored shortening
2 eggs
12 oz. chocolate chips (2 c.)
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. butter
1 c. light brown sugar
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. nuts (opt.)

In a small bowl stir together flour, baking soda and salt. In a large bowl beat butter, shortening, brown sugar and sugar until creamy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Add flour mixture; mix well. Stir in chips and nuts. Drop by rounded teaspoons, 2" apart, onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 10 minutes at 350 degrees.

For "Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies" use same recipe as above but decrease flour to 1 3/4 cups and add 1 1/2 cups of oats to dry ingredients.
