4 tbsp. shortening 1 lb. pork, veal or beef, ground 1 onion, finely chopped 2 1/2 tsp. salt 1 qt. tomato juice 1/4 c. green pepper, chopped 1 (4 oz.) can mushrooms 1 (8 oz.) pkg. med. broad noodles 1/4 lb. sharp cheese, grated 1/4 tsp. pepper 1 can green peas Place shortening in skillet. When hot add meat and onions. Cook until golden brown. Add tomato juice and seasoning. Cover and cook on medium high for 15 minutes. Then turn to simmer and cook 30 minutes. Add mushrooms, uncooked noodles and peas. Turn control to high until steam escapes. Turn to simmer and cook 20 minutes. Pour into serving dish, sprinkle with grated cheese. Put into oven until cheese melts. Serves 6 to 8 people. |
