MINESTRONE SOUP 
1 1/2 lbs. stew beef (or) 1 1/2 lbs. hamburger
1 sm. potato cubed
1 can garbanzo beans
1 c. zucchini, sliced
1 c. carrots, sliced
1/2 c. celery, sliced
1 sm. head of cabbage shredded
1 c. chopped onions
3 1/2 qts. water
1 lg. can tomatoes
3/4 c. elbow macaroni or rice
2 tbsp. parsley
1/2 bay leaf crumbled
1/4 tsp. basil
Salt and pepper
Dash sugar

Brown meat with onions until slightly brown. Add all ingredients except rice or elbow macaroni. Bring to a boil. Add macaroni or rice simmer 2 hours. Serve with Parmesan cheese if you like it.
