HARD CANDY 
2 c. sugar
1 c. water
Food coloring
3/4 c. light corn syrup
Powdered sugar (10X)
1-1 1/2 tsp. flavoring oil (depending on strength desired)

Mix sugar, corn syrup and water in large, heavy saucepan. Stir until sugar is dissolved over low heat; then increase heat and boil, without stirring, until temperature reaches 310 degrees. Remove from heat. When boiling has stopped, add coloring and flavoring. (Don't lean over candy when mixing in coloring and flavoring!)

In cake pan, sprinkle 1/8 inch layer of 10X sugar. Pour candy mixture in pan. Sprinkle some 10X on top of the candy, also. Cool, then break or hammer into pieces. Yield 1 pound.
