"OLD FASHIONED" HARD CANDY 
2 c. sugar
1 c. white syrup
1 c. water
1 sm. bottle flavoring (cinnamon, spearmint, cherry, etc.)
Powdered sugar
Desired color of food coloring

Mix sugar, syrup and water. Bring to a boiling temperature of 290 degrees (use a candy thermometer). Add flavoring and coloring and pour into a cookie sheet that you have covered with foil that has been greased with butter. Cool completely and break into pieces. Put the pieces into a ziplock bag and add the powdered sugar. (Coat the candy well with the sugar.)
