GUM DROP CUPCAKES
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 well beaten eggs
2 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 lb. gum drops (no black) cut up in small pieces
1 c. seedless raisins

Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Mix sugar and shortening, then eggs. Add sifted flour mixture, then other ingredients. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes.

When cutting up gum drops, have a certain amount of flour in a bowl. This should be an additional amount of flour from that called for in the recipe. Drop cut up gum drops in the flour and coat them on all sides with the flour. Dip the knife in the flour as well. This will make it easier to cut up the gum drops. Sift the flour off of the cut up gum drops after completely cutting them up and before mixing them into the recipe. This will prevent them from sticking together. Fill up the paper cupcake holders. This recipe does not raise much.
