MURL'S VEGETABLE SOUP 
Flour
Salt and pepper
1 lb. beef, cut into sm. pieces
Lard
3 or 4 potatoes, cut into sm. pieces
4 carrots, cut into sm. pieces
1 onion, cut into sm. pieces
1/2 head cabbage
1 pkg. brown gravy mix

Mix flour, salt and pepper together in a bowl. Add meat and stir until meat is covered with flour. Brown meat in large skillet with enough lard to brown meat. After meat is browned, fill skillet with water and add onion. Simmer for an hour.

Put potatoes, carrots and cabbage in large pot. Add enough water to cook. When vegetables are almost done, add the meat and onions to pot. Simmer until vegetables are done. Take some of the liquid from pot and mix the gravy mix, then add back to the pot.
