MY MOTHER'S STEAMED BROWN BREAD 
Mix:

1 c. flour
1 c. corn meal
1/2 c. molasses
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
Floured raisins (optional)

Add enough sour milk to make a fairly thin batter. Fill well greased baking powder cans about 2/3's full. Cover and steam in a kettle of boiling water (water should be 2-3 inches deep). Steam 1 to 3 hours depending on the size of the cans.
