1 box German chocolate cake mix
1 (14 oz.) pkg. caramels, unwrapped
1/2 c. sweetened condensed milk
6 tbsp. butter
1 c. chocolate chips
1 c. chopped walnuts

Prepare cake mix according to package directions. Pour 1/4 of this batter into a greased 9x13 inch pan and bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.

Melt caramels, milk, and butter over low heat. Pour over cake. Spread remaining cake batter on top, and cover with chips and nuts. Bake an additional 20 minutes.
