OATMEAL CAKE 
Pour 1 1/3 cups boiling water over 1 cup oats and let stand 20 minutes.

1 1/3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix well shortening and sugars. Add eggs and vanilla. Sift together and stir in flour, cinnamon, soda and salt. Mix in oats. Put in greased and floured pans. Bake 35-40 minutes in 350 degree oven.

OATMEAL CAKE TOPPING:

1 c. brown sugar
1 stick butter
1/2 c. milk or cream
2 c. Angel Flake coconut
Nuts

Put sugar, butter and milk in pan. Cook for 3 minutes. Mix in coconut and nuts. Spread on top of oatmeal cake. Place cake under broiler until brown.
