APPLE DUMPLINGS 
1 1/4 c. shortening
2 scant tsp. salt
3 c. flour
1 egg, beaten
5 tbsp. water
1 tbsp. vinegar

DUMPLING SAUCE:

2 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. butter
2 c. water
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Blend shortening, salt and flour. Add egg, water and vinegar. Mix. Form into ball, divide in quarters then roll each quarter, cut in 4 squares. Peel and quarter 16 small apples. Roll in sugar and cinnamon. Place 4 quarters on each square. Roll up like snowball, wet edges, place in pan, open edges down. Pour sauce over dumplings and bake 30 to 40 minutes at 350 degrees. Can be frozen.
