QUICK APPLE DUMPLINGS 
SYRUP:

2 c. water
1 1/2 c. sugar

DOUGH:

3 tbsp. shortening
2 c. flour
4 tsp. baking powder
Pinch of salt
1 egg
1/2 c. milk

FILLING:

2-3 c. finely chopped apples
1/4 c. sugar
1/2 to 1 tsp. cinnamon (depending on taste)
1/4 tsp. nutmeg

Combine sugar and water in saucepan. Bring to boil. Pour into bottom of 9x13 inch pan. Set aside.

Combine shortening, flour, baking powder and salt (use a mixer). Combine egg and milk. Add to creamed mixture. Roll dough out between wax paper to 1/4 inch thickness. Remove top paper.

Spread with filling ingredients that have been combined. Roll up like cinnamon rolls. Remove bottom paper. Slice into 8-10 rolls with sharp knife. Carefully lay rolls on top of syrup. Dot rolls with butter. Bake at 375 degrees for 20-30 minutes until golden brown.
