1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. baking soda in 2 c. applesauce
4 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. raisins
1 c. nuts

Cream shortening. Add eggs, one at a time. Sift flour, salt, and spices. Add soda-applesauce mixture. Add raisins and nuts. Bake at 375 to 400 degrees for 12 minutes.
