DRIED APPLE CAKE | |
3 sticks butter 2 c. sugar 4 eggs 2 c. cooked dried apples 4 c. self-rising flour 1 tsp. cinnamon 2 tsp. cake spice 1 tsp. nutmeg 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. baking powder 1 box raisins 2 1/2 c. chopped pecans Mix your butter, sugar and eggs. Sift flour with spices and add gradually. This will be really thick. Now gradually add your apples. This a very thick cake mixture. You may then add your raisins and nuts. To cook, use a tube pan, cut out brown paper to fully line pan. You will grease both sides with Crisco. Be sure to remember to paper the tunnel also. Bake 1 hour 45 minutes at 250 degrees or until done. (Ovens may vary.) This recipe is really great for the holidays. It has been handed down for over 100 years, hence the paper lining. |
