OLD FASHIONED DRIED APPLE STACK
CAKE
 
2 c. flour (self-rising)
1 1/2 c. molasses
1 c. buttermilk
1 stick butter
3 eggs
Cinnamon & allspice

TOPPING:

Dried apples
Water
Cinnamon & allspice
Sugar

Melt butter and combine with flour, buttermilk, eggs and molasses. Divide batter into 4 batches and bake in iron skillets until brown at 375 degrees.

Cook dried apples in water until a thick apple butter like paste is made, add spices and sugar. Put mixture between cake layers and top. Keep covered for 1 day before serving.
