GRAM'S REAL IRISH GINGERBREAD 
2 c. flour
1 c. granulated sugar
2 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. real butter
3 tbsp. molasses (as Brer Rabbit)
1 tsp. minced spices (allspice, cinnamon)
1 c. sour milk
1 egg
Candied ginger
Buy by box in Oriental food section

Cream butter and sugar. Add slightly beaten egg; mix well. Add molasses and beat. Sift and measure flour; add dry ingredients to flour and sift twice. Add flour and milk alternately to creamed mixture, beating after each addition. Add small cut up pieces of candied ginger (about 1/4 cup). Bake in loaf pan or 8 1/2 x 11 inch glass dish at 350 degrees until done (test with inserted toothpick in center).
