M.'S HEN DRESSING | |
4-5 lb. hen 7 slices white bread 1 box Kellogg's croutons 1 c. chopped celery 3/4 c. chopped onion 1 tsp. sage 1 tsp. black pepper 6 eggs 1 stick butter 1 pan egg corn bread Boil hen about 3 hours or until very tender. Take most out of broth to cool. Microwave onion and celery about 5 minutes. Crumble both breads and croutons in very large container. Pour broth of chicken over until soupy. Beat eggs and add. Add celery and onion,. Add sage and black pepper to taste. (There should be enough salt from broth of chicken.) Pull the chicken from bones and add to dressing. Melt butter in two 9 x 13 inch baking dishes. Pour in dressing nd bake at 450 degrees for about 20-30 minutes. Prepare your palate for a treat! |
