GREEN PEA SOUP 
1/2 lb. (225 g) soup beef or bones
2 tbsp. butter
2 c. green peas
1 lb. (450 g) yams or 6 c. white potatoes
Black pepper
Bunch of herbs
1 lg. tomato
1 lg. onion
1 dessert spoon salt
3 1/2 pts. (2 liters) water

Put peas, beef cut into pieces or bones and salt into water. Bring to a boil. When peas are soft, add sliced potatoes or yams, herbs, tomato, onion and black pepper. Cover and simmer 1/2 hour more. Add butter and serve with dumplings.
