GREEN SPLIT-PEA SOUP 
8 slices bacon, diced
1 c. diced onion
1 c. celery, diced

Saute bacon, onion and celery; drain and discard fat.

Add: 2 cloves garlic 1 bay leaf 1 tsp. curry powder (or more to taste) Pinch of rosemary 1/3 tsp. allspice 2 1/4 c. dried split-peas 6 1/2 c. water

Simmer all above for 2 hours and then add 1 tall can evaporated milk. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Sprinkle lightly with nutmeg. May be diluted with water if too thick.
