POT ROAST 
1 rump roast (3 to 5 lbs.)
1 pkg. dry onion soup mix
1 can cream of mushroom soup
2 cans of water
Salt and pepper to taste (use sparingly)
Several whole allspice, if desired
4 to 5 (or more) potatoes, peeled
6 carrots, scraped or peeled
Sm. white (pearl) onions, if desired

Brown roast well on all sides in small amount of butter. Add dry onion soup mix, mushroom soup, water (and allspice, if desired) to meat in large pot. Cover and cook over low to medium heat (325 degrees) until meat is almost done (2 to 3 hours) about 30 minutes before meat is done add vegetables. This recipe will make its own gravy.
