BEAN COUNTER'S BUTTERMILK BACON
BISCUITS
 
1/3 c. shortening
1 3/4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. buttermilk
4 slices crisp cooked bacon, crumbled

Heat oven to 450 degrees. Saute bacon; drain and crumble. Cut shortening into flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Stir in buttermilk and bacon. Knead lightly on floured surface. Roll 1/2 inch thick. Cut with biscuit cutter into 10 to 12 (2 inch) biscuits. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes.
