BEST FRIED PIES | |
2 c. flour 1 tsp. salt 1/2 c. shortening 1/2 c. ice water Sift flour and salt. Cut in shortening, sprinkle water over mixture and mix lightly. Roll out on floured board real thin. Cut into circles. (I use the top of Crisco can.) Spoon on about 2 tablespoons of fruit. Moisten edges; press together with fork. Fry in deep fat (365 degrees) about 8 minutes, or until lightly brown. Canned pie filing may be used, but dried fruit is best. Apples, apricot or peaches. Fresh pears to good too!! |
