FRIENDSHIP BISCUITS
2 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 sticks (3/4 c.) butter
1 c. (about) Friendship Starter (see Friendship Starter)

In medium bowl, thoroughly mix or sift flour, baking soda and salt. Cut in butter with knife or pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add enough starter to make a soft dough. Mix with spoon until all ingredients are blended.

On a lightly floured surface, knead dough about 6 times and roll out to 3/8" thickness. Cut with a 3" biscuit cutter and place on greased baking sheet. Let stand, uncovered, about 30 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat oven to 425 degrees.

Bake biscuits about 18 minutes or until done and lightly browned. Serve warm.

NOTE: This makes a sweet biscuit that is particularly good as a base for fruit shortcake. To make a less sweet biscuit, use a starter in which the sugar has been reduced or omitted for a feeding. Yield: 1 dozen.
