APPLE OR PEACH PIE 
1 1/2 c. flour (self-rising, omit salt & baking powder)
1/2 c. shortening
1 tsp. baking powder
1 qt. fruit
2 c. water
Spice to taste
1/2 c. sweet milk
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. sugar
1 stick butter

Melt butter in a 9"x13" pan. Place half the fruit in pan and roll out about half the pastry and lay slices 1 1/2" wide over the fruit, then put the other half of fruit on top of the pastry, then lay another layer of pastry long ways of pan, then another layer cross ways. Sprinkle spice and mix sugar and water and pour over pie and cook 1 hour at 350 degrees.
