100 YEAR OLD BLACK WALNUT POUND CAKE | |
1 c. butter 1/2 c. shortening 3 c. sugar 5 eggs 1 tsp. rum extract (optional) 1 tsp. vanilla extract 3 c. flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1 c. milk 1 c. black walnuts, chopped Beat butter, softening and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add extracts to milk. Add baking powder to flour. Alternately add liquid and dry ingredients to batter. Stir in walnuts. Pour batter into a greased and floured tube or fluted pan. Bake in a preheated 325 degree oven until cake tests done, about 1 hour and 10 minutes. |
