BAKED SPANISH STEAK | |
1 (2 inch) round steak 1 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 1/2 c. chopped onion 1/2 c. chopped green pepper 2 cloves garlic, crushed 1/2 c. water 1 bay leaf 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce 1/4 c. sliced stuffed green olives Brown steak on both sides in hot oil. Pour off excess drippings and season meat with salt and pepper. Place onion, green pepper, and garlic around meat and cook until vegetables are tender but not brown. Add water, bay leaf, and tomato sauce. Put in casserole. Cover tightly and bake at 325 degrees for 2 1/2 to 3 hours or until tender. Add olives and heat. Makes 4-6 servings. Serve with Spanish rice. |
