1 c. brown sugar 2 eggs 2 tsp. vanilla 1 c. All Bran 1 c. white sugar 1 tsp. salt 1 c. flour 1/2 c. Old Fashioned rolled oats 1 c. butter 1 tsp. baking powder 1 c. Oat Bran FILLING: 1/4 c. brown sugar 1/2 stick butter 2 c. raisins 1/4 c. milk 2 c. walnuts FROSTING: 1/2 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips 1/4 c. milk 1/2 stick butter 1 c. powdered sugar 1 tsp. vanilla In heavy mixer. Mix sugars, butter, eggs, vanilla till smooth. Add flour sifted with salt and baking powder, All Bran, Oat Bran and rolled oats mix till crumbly and blended. Pat half mixture in greased pan, press down firmly. Use sheet cake pan 11 x 17-inch. To make filling: Grind raisins and walnuts together. In saucepan, heat raisins, nuts, brown sugar, butter and milk until blended. Pour over cereal mixture. Crumble rest of cereal to cover the filling press down firmly. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. To make frosting: In saucepan, melt chocolate chips in milk and butter. Add powdered sugar and vanilla. Stir until smooth. Spread over hot bar mixture. Cool one hour. Cut into bars 1 1/2 x 2 inches. When cooled, put in plastic bags. This makes about 30 bars. |
