PUMPKIN BREAD 
1 c. light brown sugar
1/3 c. cold butter
2 lg. eggs
1 c. canned pumpkin
1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 c. whole wheat flour
1 1/2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
1 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. chopped dates
1/2 c. chopped pecans or walnuts

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix sugar and butter until smooth. Add eggs, one at a time. Add pumpkin, flour, spice, soda, and baking powder. Mix until just moistened. Do not over beat; batter will be lumpy. Sprinkle dates and nuts over batter. Mix into batter. Pour into 3 pans, 3 x 5 x 2 inch loaf size (small). Bake 30 to 35 minutes. Test with toothpick.
