NORWEGIAN COFFEE CAKE 
PART 1:

1/2 c. (1 stick) butter
1 c. all-purpose flour
4 tbsp. cold water

PART 2:

1 c. water
1/2 c. (1 stick) butter
1 c. all-purpose flour
3 eggs
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Mix 1/2 cup butter, flour and cold water like a pie crust. On a cookie sheet, pat into an 8x16-inch rectangle to form crust. In a saucepan, heat 1 cup water and 1/2 cup butter to boiling. Remove from heat and add flour and 3 eggs, beating after each. Add vanilla. Spread on crust. Bake at 350°F for 45 minutes. Frost and sprinkle with nuts or coconut.

FROSTING:

2 c. powdered sugar
3 tbsp. scalded milk
5 tbsp. butter

Beat together then frost.
