BAKED ROTINI 
1 lb. pkg. rotini pasta
1 lb. ground beef or Italian sausage
1 c. chopped onion
1 sm. green pepper, chopped
1 (28 oz.) can tomatoes, cut up
1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
1 (4 oz.) can sliced mushrooms
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. basil
1/2 tsp. oregano
1/2 tsp. garlic
1/4 tsp. red pepper
2 c. mozzarella cheese, grated

Prepare pasta until done. Drain. In large skillet cook ground meat, onion and green pepper. Drain fat. Add tomatoes, tomato paste, mushrooms and seasonings. Simmer on low, heat for 20 minutes.

Combine rotini and sauce; layer 1/2 into a baking dish, top with 1 cup cheese, layer remaining mixture and top with remaining cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes.

Rhis recipe was very good but instead of the tomatoes and tomato paste I used a jar of Prego traditional spaghetti sauce.

I also used a jar of prego, added some green chilis from Hatch, NM and some provolone cheese between layers.
