BATTER DIPS 
1/2 c. butter
2 1/4 c. self-rising flour
1 tbsp. sugar
1 c. milk

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Melt butter in 9 x 13 inch pan in oven. Mix flour, sugar and add milk. Stir until it clings. Turn out on a floured surface. Knead lightly 10 times. Roll it about 1/2 inch thick into a rectangle. Cut it in half lengthwise; then crosswise. Dip both sides in butter. Lay close together. Bake 10 minutes.

TOPPINGS:

1/2 c. sharp cheese, grated or
1/4 tsp. cloves mixed in butter, or
Sesame seeds, or
Cinnamon and sugar
