SPICE CAKE WITH CIDER 
3 c. sifted flour
1 tbsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
3/4 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
3 eggs
1 tbsp. lemon juice
1 c. cider

Sift flour. Sift again with baking powder, salt, spices. Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and beat until thoroughly blended. Add lemon juice to cider. Add cider and dry ingredients alternately to creamed mixture beating after each addition. Pour into 2 (8 inch) pans and bake 25-30 minutes at 350 degrees.

CIDER FILLING:

Combine: 1/4 tsp. salt 3 tbsp. cornstarch

Add:

Mix. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until thick and clear. Remove from heat.

Add: 2 tbsp. butter

Cool.

CREAMY CIDER ICING:

In saucepan melt:

Blend in: 1/4 tsp. salt

Add:

Stir constantly and remove from heat. Add:

Beat well. Add:
