MARY RICE SPARKLIN'S WHEAT GERM BREAD | |
3 c. milk 7/8 c. sugar 1 tbsp. salt 1 stick butter, soft 2 pkgs. yeast 1/2 tsp. sugar 1/2 c. lukewarm water 6 c. flour 1 1/2 c. wheat germ 1 c. flour for kneading Bring the following to a boil: milk, 7/8 cup sugar, salt, butter and cool to lukewarm. Mix yeast, 1/2 teaspoon sugar, and lukewarm water in a glass. Set aside. Mix flour and what germ; make a nest and add all the liquids and stir. Let sit 20 minutes. Use an additional cup of flour and knead bread 8-10 minutes. Let rise until double. Punch down, make into rolls or loaves. Let rise again. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. |
