WHEAT GERM BREAD 
1 3/4 c. water
6 tbsp. sugar
4 tsp. salt
1/3 c. shortening
1/3 c. dark molasses
3/4 c. milk
1 c. wheat germ (1/2 c. warm water & 2 pkg. dry yeast)
4 c. whole wheat flour
2 c. white flour

In a saucepan or microwave, combine water, 3 tablespoons sugar, salt, shortening and molasses. Heat until shortening is melted. Cool. Scald milk in mixing. Cool. Combine warm water, 3 tablespoons and yeast set for 5 minutes.

Mix flours, wheat germ mix. Add half of flours. Add yeast. Place remaining flours on board. Turn out mixture onto floured board. Mixture will be very moist and sticky. Knead quickly and lightly until smooth. Place in greased bowl after shaping into round ball. Let rise until doubled 1 1/2 hours. Punch down, shape and place in two 8 x 4 inch loaf pans. Bake at 400 degrees for about 50 minutes.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
