SPLIT PEAS AT MIDNIGHT 
1 1/4 c. split peas (dry)
1 1/4 c. black beans (dry)
1 red onion, diced
4 red chilies, diced
1 c. cubed ham
4 stalks celery, diced
Salt pork to taste
1 tsp. garlic
2 tbsp. spike
2 tbsp. cumin
2 bay leaves
Dash of Tabasco sauce

Boil split peas and black beans for 2 minutes. Then let sit for 2 hours. Drain and flush water until water runs clear. (This reduces the side effects of beans.) Put all the ingredients into a crock pot and cook until beans are tender.
