SCALLOPED ASPARAGUS 
4 c. fresh asparagus, cut into 1" pieces
1/2 c. milk
2 tbsp. flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1/2 c. grated American cheese
1 c. bread crumbs
2 tbsp. butter

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Cook asparagus in a little water until tender, then transfer to a buttered baking dish.

Combine milk, flour, salt and pepper together and add to the asparagus. Add the cheese and half the bread crumbs, stir. Dot with butter, sprinkle the remaining bread crumbs on top. Bake 30 minutes or until brown on top.
