EASY FILLED COOKIES 
2 c. dates
3/4 c. white sugar
3/4 c. water
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 c. soft butter
2 c. brown sugar (packed)
1/2 c. water, sour milk or buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1/8 tsp. cinnamon
2 eggs

Date Filling: Cook 2 cups dates, cut small, 3/4 cup white sugar and 3/4 cup water. Cook until thick stirring constantly. Add 1/2 cup chopped nuts. Set aside to cool.

Mix butter, brown sugar and eggs well. Stir in water and vanilla. Sift together and stir in flour, soda, salt and cinnamon. Drop with teaspoon onto ungreased baking sheet. Place 1/2 teaspoon date filling on dough. Cover with 1/2 teaspoon dough. Bake 10 to 12 minutes in preheated oven at 400 degrees. Makes approximately 4 to 5 dozen cookies.
