BAVAIRAN VACATION SAUERKRAUT
DINNER (YOU WON'T NEED TO
PUCKER)

Pressure cooker (or large pot)
1 (1 lb.) can of sauerkraut
1 onion, peeled and quartered
1 tbsp. Crisco
1 tbsp. brown sugar
1 or 2 ring sausage, German, Polish, etc.
1 c. water

Pour sauerkraut into strainer and rinse very well - wash off all the "sauer".

Place kraut into pressure cooker (or pot). Add onion, Crisco and brown sugar; stir to mix in brown sugar.

Slice sausages into good sized pieces and place on top of sauerkraut.

Add water and put pressure cooker lid on. Turn stove to medium-high until pressure gauge starts to shake. Then turn down temperature to medium and pressure cook for 10 to 15 minutes (if using pot cook until onions are tender).

Remove from heat, when safe, open pressure cooker.

Take off sausage pieces, lay aside.

Stir sauerkraut and put into serving bowl. Arrange sausages on top.

Serve with: Potato salad or scalloped potatoes, a tossed green salad and, of course, a good strong German root beer!
