PEANUT BUTTER BARS | |
2/3 c. all-purpose flour 1/2 c. packed brown sugar 1/4 c. peanut butter 1/4 c. shortening 1 egg 1 tbsp. milk 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1/4 tsp. baking soda 1/4 c. quick cooking rolled oats Combine about half of the flour, the brown sugar, peanut butter, shortening, egg, milk, vanilla and soda. Beat with mixer on medium to high speed until thoroughly combined. Beat in remaining flour. Stir in oats. Spread in ungreased 8 x 8 inch pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 15-18 minutes. Cool. FROSTING: 3 tbsp. peanut butter 2 1/4 c. powdered sugar 2 tbsp. milk 3/4 tsp. vanilla In a bowl beat peanut butter, gradually add 1 cup powdered sugar; beat well. Slowly beat in the 2 tablespoons milk and vanilla. Slowly beat in remaining sugar. Add milk if needed. |
