BREAD AND BUTTER PICKLES 
25 lg. cucumbers
12 onions, sliced
1/2 cup salt

Place cucumber in cold water until crisp, then wipe dry and slice. Add sliced onions and salt. Let stand 1 hour. Do not drain. Add:

1 qt. vinegar and a little water
2 tbsp. ginger root
2 tbsp. celery seed
2 tbsp. mustard seed

Boil all together 5 minutes. While hot, pack in jars and seal.
