SUGAR COOKIES | |
Sugar cookies are such fun to make, They're the kind I really love to bake; They taste so good when they're all made, With a glass of milk or lemonade. Just follow this simple recipe, And before you know it you will see, Just why I like to bake so well, And make sugar cookies that taste swell! Blend together well these three things, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup shortening; Then beat in 2 tablespoons milk and unbeaten egg, (Later we'll also use nutmeg.) 2 cups of flour is the next thing to use, (You may sift it if you choose.) With 1/2 teaspoon baking soda and 1 teaspoon baking powder, When you're done baking you couldn't be prouder! Stir in the last three things I mention, And now you must pay close attention. Lightly grease a cookie sheet, Drop dough by the teaspoon and please be neat! Then grease the bottom of a glass, Dip in sugar and then you smash Each cookie lightly until flat. Now what do you think of a trick like that? Now comes the nutmeg I mentioned before; Sprinkle on the cookies and not on the floor. Bake 8 to 10 minutes at 400 heat, Now it's almost time for a wonderful treat! You'd better cool first upon a rack, Before you eat one for a snack. Hide them until supper from your hungry brother, And watch out, too, for Dad and Mother! Get Mother to help you, if you get stuck, Now scoot to the kitchen and best of luck!! |
