NUT BRITTLE 
1 c. nuts (pecans, walnuts or hazelnuts)
1/2 c. white sugar
2 tbsp. butter

Put in heavy skillet, stir until sugar melts and browns. Do not burn. Remove from stove and add 1/2 teaspoon vanilla. Spread on heavy foil and sprinkle with salt. When cool, break into pieces.
