CUSTARD BREAD PUDDING 
2 c. bread crumbs
1/8 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla or 1/8 tsp. nutmeg if preferred
2 c. scalded milk
1 egg, or 2 egg yolks
1/4 c. sugar
1 tbsp. melted butter

Scald milk and pour 1/2 over bread crumbs in pudding dish. Make a custard by beating egg slightly and adding sugar, spice or vanilla and remainder of hot milk. Pour this over crumbs and add melted butter and raisins if desired. Bake in moderate oven, 350 degrees, 20 minutes.
