APPLESAUCE OR PUMPKIN CAKE 
2 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
2 tsp. baking soda
3 tbsp. vinegar
1/2 c. butter, melted or oil
2 eggs
1 (1 lb.) can applesauce or pumpkin
1 c. walnuts, chopped
1 c. raisins

Soak the raisins in hot water until they get plump then drain. Cream together: sugar, butter, and eggs. Mix all dry ingredients alternating with applesauce or pumpkin to the creamed mixture. Add vinegar. Stir in walnuts and raisins. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 55 minutes. A 9 x 9 inch or 8 x 8 inch pan should be greased and floured.
